Celebrating the Season of Creation at St. Paul’s
At our Sunday services from September 1 – October 4, we will utilize prayers and liturgical resources connecting us more deeply to the season. In celebration of the season, several events and Christian education opportunities are also being offered.
Sunday Film Series on Water:
Following on a course of study undertaken by the Social Justice Action Team, a series of short films will be shown on Sundays in the Walker Room. Discussion will follow.Laudato Si Book Study: In honor the the 10th Anniversary of Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ encyclical on creation, a Zoom book study will be held on Mondays, September 8-October 27 (no meeting on 9/29). The program will be facilitated by Dean Rebecca Barnes and Mo. Liz Grohowski. Holy Hikes of Western New York: The Cathedral will launch a new ministry Holy Hikes of Western New York which will hold its inaugural hike on Saturday, September 13 at 10AM. The hike (really more of a walk) will be held at the Tiff Nature Preserve (Tifft Nature Preserve – Nature Next Door) which is just 5 minutes from downtown on the Outer Harbor. Join us as we will hit the trail to celebrate the Eucharist in nature. Holy Hikes is an eco-Ministry of The Episcopal Church that is committed to rebuilding Communion between all of God’s Creation. It’s founder and director, Fr. Justin Cannon says, “I feel closest to God in nature and also in the Holy Eucharist. Through Holy Hikes people across the country are bringing these two together in profound ways.” We will hike rain or shine. All are welcome; carpooling will be available.
The Annual Blessing of the Animals in Honor of St. Francis: The annual blessing of the animals service will be held on the Feast of St. Francis, October 4 at 4PM. Bring you furry and feathery animal companions (fins and scales are welcome too). All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier. Please invite your friends and family to join in!
